Montage was designed at inception as an Elder-led church. However, at inception, no elders had been formally called to the position, so the church began with an Advisory Board. The goal was, in time, to transition qualified and trained men from the Advisory Board into Elders. Montage has purposefully been slow and careful at calling men to the position of Elder (1 Timothy 5:22), and thus is still transitioning from an Advisory Board into an full-fledged Elder Board.

Currently, the Elders and the Advisory Board meet together for monthly board meetings, though the current Elders have the final say (and responsibility) for the directional decisions at Montage.
